Pro-Polygamists Celebrate 21st Annual 'Polygamy Day'
Date: Aug 19, 2021
Word Count: 300 words
Cross-Reference: Polygamy Day, August 19, polygamy activism
On August 19, 2021, supporters of unrelated consenting adult polygamy (UCAPs) are celebrating "Polygamy Day 21" - beginning the third decade of annual Polygamy Day ® celebrations.
August 19th is the official Polygamy Day ®. From 2001 (twenty years ago today), unrelated consenting adult polygamy (UCAP) supporters have been celebrating August 19th every year. With that first celebration in "Year 1" of the new century, every subsequent "Polygamy Day" has been enumerated up to the current "Polygamy Day 21" of August 19, 2021.
This celebration began in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, as an organized get-together for pro-polygamists unconnected to Mormon polygamy or Muslim polygamy. The event expanded over the years into a religiously-neutral celebration for all forms, everywhere, of unrelated consenting adult polygamy in supporters’ own local areas.
Polygamy Day ® is promoted by Polygamy Day, Inc. Incorporated in 2002 in the State of Maine, Polygamy Day, Inc. filed for the federal trademark on "Polygamy Day 6." Unexpectedly, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office registered, Polygamy Day ®, on June 26, 2007 - four years after Lawrence v. Texas and eight years before Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court Decisions.
Polygamy Rights supporters celebrate each August 19th to review the past year’s events and to strategize the upcoming year’s plans.

The COVID-19 pandemic this past year compounded significant hardships on pro-polygamists. From imposed lockdowns to form-filled vaccinations, UCAPs keep "staying quiet." If ever polygamists "needed" to live in one house, cruel lockdown separations imposed that lesson. Corporate media offered little public voice. Even TLC aired negativities on "Sister Wives" and "Seeking Sister Wives," seemingly backing off from being supportive. Yet, manufactured news corporations returned a disgraced, salaciously "self-serving," anti-polygamist Jeffrey Toobin to public voice again. Nevertheless, UCAPs have much to consider even privately during this twenty-first year of celebrations, August 19, 2021 - "Polygamy Day 21."
