Date: Aug 19, 2019
Word Count: 300 words
Cross-Reference: Polygamy Day, August 19, polygamy activism
On August 19, 2019, families and supporters of unrelated consenting adult polygamy (UCAPs) are celebrating "Polygamy Day 19" - the nineteenth year of annual Polygamy Day ® celebrations.
August 19th is the official date of Polygamy Day ®. Since 2001, families and supporters of unrelated consenting adult polygamy (UCAP) have been annually celebrating August 19th. With that first event in "Year 1" of the new millennium, every "Polygamy Day" since has been sequentially identified up to the current "Polygamy Day 19" of August 19, 2019.
This celebration began in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, as an organized get-together for pro-polygamists not connected with Mormon polygamy or Muslim polygamy. Over the years, however, the event grew into a nationwide religiously-neutral celebration for all forms of unrelated consenting adult polygamy in their own local areas.
Polygamy Day ® is promoted by Polygamy Day, Inc. Incorporated in 2002 in the State of Maine, Polygamy Day, Inc. filed for the federal trademark on "Polygamy Day 6." Ironically, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office registered, Polygamy Day ®, on June 26, 2007. That was four years after Lawrence v. Texas and eight years before the Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court Decisions.
Polygamy Rights supporters celebrate each August 19th to review activism over the preceding year and to strategize plans for the upcoming year.

This past year brought important anniversaries and milestones in the movement's history. It had been 26 years of "June 26 & Polygamy" co-incidences on June 26th. Christian Polygamy (which made the larger UCAP movement possible) was 25 years old on July 4th. "Love-not-Force" was 20 years old on July 13th. The National Polygamy Advocate Podcast had posted 74 weekly episodes, archiving past media interviews for history. Looking ahead, UCAP pro-polygamists have much to contemplate on this nineteenth year of the celebrations, August 19, 2019 - "Polygamy Day 19."
