Pro-Polygamists Celebrate 18th Annual 'Polygamy Day'

On August 19, 2018, unrelated consenting adult polygamy supporters (UCAPs) are celebrating "Polygamy Day 18" - the eighteenth year of annual Polygamy Day ® celebrations.
August 19th is the established date of Polygamy Day ®. Since its inception in 2001, supporters of unrelated consenting adult polygamy (UCAP) celebrate this date every year. With that first celebration happening during "Year 1" of the new millennium, every "Polygamy Day" since has been numerically identified up to the current "Polygamy Day 18" of August 19, 2018.
This event originated in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, as an organized get-together for pro-polygamists, with no connection to Mormon polygamy or Muslim polygamy. Over the years, however, the celebration grew into a nationwide, religiously-neutral event for all forms of unrelated consenting adult polygamy in their own local geographies.
Polygamy Day ® is promoted by Polygamy Day, Inc., incorporated in 2002 in the State of Maine. Polygamy Day, Inc. filed for the federal trademark on "Polygamy Day 6." Ironically, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officially trademarked, Polygamy Day ®, on June 26, 2007 - four years after the Lawrence v. Texas and eight years before the Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court Decisions.
Polygamy Rights supporters celebrate each August 19th to analyze and strategize the legal and political advances over the preceding year. Plans for the upcoming year of activism are also organized.

This past year was interesting. Canada's B.C. Supreme Court sentenced two men found "guilty of polygamy" in 2017 (despite no other crimes) to only in-house arrest (i.e., no jailtime) in 2018; and, the National Polygamy Advocate Podcast debuted, archiving past media interviews for history. Looking ahead, unrelated consenting adult pro-polygamists have much to optimistically consider on this eighteenth year of the celebrations, August 19, 2018 - "Polygamy Day 18."
